Text Message Reminders

All patients who register a mobile telephone number with us will automatically receive text messages about appointment as well as ad-hoc messages if we need to contact you. If you do not wish to receive text messages you will need to OPT OUT. Please ask one of our receptionists with regards to this.

mobile phone

If you are the parent of a child registered with us you may wish to register your mobile telephone number against their records. This is acceptable up until your child is 13 years of age when different rules will apply.

You can also cancel appointments by responding CANCEL to any text message appointment text that we send to you. This will prevent you from having to telephone the surgery to cancel your appointment.

Data Protection Regulations from May 2018 (GDPR)

Under the data protection regulations introduced in May 2018, we will continue to contact patients via text messages regarding the delivery of care.

If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.

If you would like to opt out of any future contact via text messaging, then please let the reception team know.
